Creativity – The Most Important Tool in the Remodeling Toolbox
Red Apple Renovations has been fortunate enough to grow and bring on new people in the last 12 months. We’ve got a great team in the office that includes design, estimating, administration and production management. Our field staff includes great carpenters, painters, drywallers and most recently, a full-time electrician. As I spend my time working with this great team, I’m constantly surprised and pleased by how they are able to solve problems and help our clients achieve their dreams.
This got me thinking about what these people have in common that makes them great at remodeling. We have people that are great at their trade, excellent with clients, good with software, you name it. Across the levels of expertise we have in our company there is no lack of skill.
Fortunately or unfortunately, skill isn’t enough. The common element across all of our people isn’t any specific skill – it’s creativity.
When we recruit new people, we look for people who can think “outside the box”. The remodeling industry has many issues, one of the principal one’s being a resistance to new ideas or new ways of doing things. There are many reasons why this is true, but it’s safe to say that you’ll see this across the industry. While much of the world is “moving to the cloud” or adopting social media, you’ll still see articles in leading remodeling publications on why you need a web site.
That brings us to Red Apple Renovations.
We were founded with a different idea. An idea that there was not reason that excellent remodeling craftsmanship, great customer service, a well run company and fun, can’t go together. Across our company you’ll see everything from very traditional skills to cutting edge technology. This make us a different kind of company.
Back to creativity.
What this means is that we’re constantly looking to improve how remodeling is done. Whether it’s looking at a different order for various construction activities, implementing new ways to reach out to our customers or implementing instant and rapid financial reporting, we need people who thrive in a constantly changing environment and enjoy pushing the envelope.
This means that most our our day involves solve challenges that are put in front of us. Our field staff works through surprises that we find once the walls are open, last minute changes in materials and scheduling a wide variety of trades and employees. Our office staff juggles delayed fixtures, design challenges and the constant drive to make our projects happen with excellent quality married with cost effectiveness.
That why when I see what we do and how we do it, I couldn’t be more proud of our team. They are constantly bringing their best problem solving skills to the table to make sure our we meet or exceed the expectations we set with our customers.
To wrap this up, when you meet with us, or talk to any other remodeling company across the company, look for creativity. It will make your project turn out better than you could have hoped.
