Plan and Budget

Once we’ve developed a design that you like, it’s time to make it work with your budget. We know that it’s rare that the sky’s the limit, so we will work with you to find creative ways to deliver your ‘must haves’, eliminate what doesn’t fit and still leave some room for some extra special touches. This exercise is known as value-engineering and is common practice in larger commercial projects, but rarely for residential remodeling.

During the value-engineering process we help you look for ways to lower the cost of the project while making sure the project doesn’t lose its core value. We also work with you to help you make the right adjustments to the project scope to assure that both your budget and your design priorities are met.

First, we look at where we can use less expensive materials or less time-consuming construction methods without sacrificing quality. Next, we ask a series of questions such as “Is the bathroom tile more important than the custom vanity?”, “Are the skylights more important than the custom cabinets?”  By working through questions like these, tailored to your project and budget, we’ll discover together what is truly important to you and be able to make smart decisions that deliver both a final project and budget that will make you happy.
